Altered Matchbox-Halloween
Happy Halloween!
Just a super quick post to show you an altered matchbox that I made for a swap hosted by JoAnne of Vintage Dragonfly.
Just a super quick post to show you an altered matchbox that I made for a swap hosted by JoAnne of Vintage Dragonfly.
All of the papers used for the project are from the Creating with Vintage Halloween CD4 from Crafty Secrets. The faux cabinet card on the lid is an image from Paper Whimsy.
I used scrabble tiles for feet on the bottom of the box. The matchbox is the 300 count size box.

Halloween Altered Matchbox
I had so much fun making this altered matchbox for a swap hosted by JoAnne of Vintage Dragonfly.
I used a large (300 count) matchbox for my base and covered it with black cardstock and papers from the Crafty Secrets new CD - Creating With Vintage Halloween CD#4.
I used TH hitch fasteners for feet and a magnetic fastener for ease in opening and closing the box.
Here you can see 3 of the 4 papers that I used to cover the box.
The 4th paper is the music sheet with a beautiful scalloped lace border.
On the top I arranged sheer black ribbon (heat distressed), vintage tinsel trim, orange paper flowers, tiny black roses and a few pumpkin embellishments.
Hope my swap partner likes it! I may have to make another just for me!!

Halloween Tag
Pulled out some Crafty Secrets products to play with today in between working on some "have to do" projects. I used papers from CD2 and CD3 and the little Trick or Treater from the Costume Cuties stamp set. I used glitter gel pens to add a little sparkle to the spider web, the shoes and the ruffles on the costume. Added a black flower and heat distressed some ribbon and I was quickly done.

Crafty Secrets Recipe Book
Last month I had the pleasure of assisting Vicki Chrisman with her Vintage Recipe Book workshop sponsored by Crafty Secrets at the Great American Scrapbook Convention. Thank goodness she had a few extra kits so I could have fun at home working on a book too.
The cover of the book is Vicki's design and is just perfect. I did not change a thing about it all the way down to the cute little vintage ice cream spoon.
The divider pages are another story. I liked what was done in class but wanted to make mine a little more personal by adding family pictures and copies of old recipe cards. On these dividers I used a picture of my daughter in 1978 and her daughter in 2010. Photoshop helped give these photos a vintage look.
The little cook in this picture is my son in 1975. He had a lot of fun making and eating his gingerbread man creations.
The divider on the left shows some of the items that were sold in the A. J. Bush and Co. General Store located in Chestnut Hill, TN.All of the beautiful patterned papers I used in this recipe book are from the new CD available from Crafty Secrets.

Creating with Vintage Patterns CS1 Patterns CD is a new venture for us and all of you. This CD is for card makers, crafters, fabric artists, home décor enthusiasts, digi and hybrid scrap-bookers, anyone with a creative soul. It is versatile and easy to use, save time, space and money. The 70 embellishments include roses, frames, journal and recipe cards and so much more. Digi Scrap-bookers there are 173 items and all the jpegs are tagged for easy organizing. Instructions by Patty Debowski the digital scrapbooking teacher shows you how to change colors, build a scrap-book page from start to finish, add text, shadows, overlays and textures. There are 5 easy to use templates to just print and create. Make 3D envelopes to match your A4 cards, ring boxes, gift boxes, tussie mussies, candy holders and 3D library pockets with cards or tags over and over. The 2 digi stamps let you make cards for birthdays and thinking of you. They are pre-sized for A4 cards and the images are a beautiful rose with a text background and a bird perched in a heart wreath. We have included samples of the cards and sample scrapbook pages to inspire you, so let your creativity soar!

Another Altered Domino Book
Here is the sewing related altered domino book that I made for Sandy Redburn using her products from Crafty Secrets.
I stamped the scissors, thread spool, and sentiment on almond Shrinky Dinks with black StazOn ink. Rather than going to the trouble of heating up the oven, I used my heat gun to shrink the images. I was surprised at the detail that was retained after shrinking the scissor image.
I left the dominoes their natural color and stamped a zigzag stitch around the edges.
Once again, as in the previous book, all of the stamps, papers and images are from Crafty Secrets.

Altered Domino Book
I had the pleasure this past week to work at the Great American Scrapbook Convention with Sandy Redburn of Crafty Secrets, her husband Scott, and Vicki Chrisman, Crafty Secret's design team leader. Today I'd like to show you the little gift that I made for Vicki. Since I would be her TA for the Vintage Cookbook class, I thought a little cooking related book would be in order.
