SAWO-BG with Aluminum Foil
The Saturday Workout Challenge has us making backgrounds with aluminum foil today. This is an easy technique with amazing results. I gently crinkled the foil then smoothed it out, added rust alcohol ink then dabbed on brown acrylic paint. Before the paint dried I blotted it with a paper towel to lift some of the paint. I am very pleased with the results. The " leather" strap is a faux suede ribbon that has been inked and heated until distressed. Size is 4" X 4".Saturday, April 11, 2009

SAWO-Gesso Transfer
Saturday's Workout is one of my favorite challenge sites. It always gives me a little push to try new things. The technique for today's challenge is gesso transfers. You can find a tutorial for this technique on Hermine's blog here. The image I chose to transfer is one of my grandmother.Saturday, January 10, 2009

SAWO-Salted Backgrounds

I was glad to see that the challenge today on Saturday's Workout was salted backgrounds. I have wanted to try this technique. The only problem being that I liked them so much that I hated to cover them up! On the first bg I used TH distress inks in spiced marmalade and peeled paint. On the second one I used weathered wood and black soot. The metal embellishments were cut and embossed using the Spellbinders symbology die. Tree stamp from Ann-ticipation.Saturday, November 15, 2008
SAWO-Thread Technique
Here is another fun idea from Saturday's Workout. This week it’s all about the thread technique. How does that work??? There is a really easy method: Wind a thread criss-cross around a piece of paper. After that, rub with an inkpad, glimmermist, ink etc etc etc over and across the thread, remove the thread and voila, where ever the thread was you now have a wonderful background pattern.
I used TH distress ink in peeled paint and stamps from Washi Accents and VLVS.

SAWO-Waxed Paper Resist
On Saturday's Workout we were challenged to work with waxed paper or beeswax. I chose to do the waxed paper resist. I ran a piece of waxed paper through the cuttlebug and then ironed it between 2 pieces of glossy cardstock. The cs was then inked with Ranger distressed inks . Since the background made me think of trees, I added a nest, bird, and feathers.

Saturday's Workout Challenge-Raster Screen
Today's Saturday Workout Challenge is a new one to me! I have done color blocking and masking but never have I attempted a raster screen. I think I need a little (okay a lot) more practice but am pleased with the results. I used Tim Holtz inks in peeled paint and faded jeans. Stamps are by CHF and grab bag (unknown). Image is an RAK.
