Old bottles, vintage lace, pictures and script printed on fabric, lots of tarnished and tattered goodies and melt pots of encaustic wax were just a few of the things that were available to play with at Lisa's (
Tarnished and Tattered) this past Friday night. You should have seen the food, too. . .yummy! The event was an altered bottle workshop. The time went by so quickly as we cut, layered and waxed. I wish you could see all of the fabulous bottles that came out of this workshop but I forgot to take my camera.
Here is my bottle.
All of the bottles offered were so sparkly and clean but I happened to spy one that had a beautiful rusty interior. . .exactly to my liking.
After getting the lace and wax the way I wanted it, I wired some rusty mesh to the bottle and then added some scrim. I added a piece of mica to the frame to further distress the boyhood photo of my father-in-law holding a banjo and wearing a straw hat.
I topped off my rusty bottle with some more scrim, a little wire, an old button, a metal tag, and this interestingly rusted and aged pulley.
I love the way the lace looks through the wax so I left the back unadorned.
Thanks, Lisa!
I am entering this in the
Anything Goes challenge at
Our Creative Corner as well as the challenge at
Anything But a Card where they are asking us to
Dust off Your Old Supplies. I had to dig out the rusty mesh and the annealed wire. . .neither had been used in a while and pull the scrim out of a jar where it usually just sits and looks pretty in my studio.
