This week we take a peek into the laundry room but don't worry, I won't put you to work!
Every laundry room contained some clothespins, soap, some Dutch cleanser, and a clothes sprinkler. The little sprinkler was put on a bottle (ie Coke or Pepsi) full of water and used to dampen clean clothes and linens. The damp items were then rolled up and placed in a pile or laundry basket next to your ironing board. When that was done, the ironing could begin!
This is a close-up of the Old Dutch cleanser logo on the decorative cover for a can. It dates from the 50's.
The back of the clothespin box shows a date in the lower right hand corner of 1953. These have never been used.

I love old laundry things. I have a sprinkler for a coke bottle also. And that soap package makes me want to send off for a ring!

Nice collection-I can't find any vintage laundry stuff here in N. California, and believe me, I've looked! Lucky you!
I also love old laundry items as long as I don't have to use them anymore. I have had to wash clothes out in the bath tub and scrub them on a washboard...yes I did, thank God those days are gone, I used every item you have listed...oh what memories.
I'll have nightmares tonight for sure...ROTFLMBBO.

I'm stuck with the tiniest of laundry rooms now with minimum vintage treasures but dont you worry once i have my dream home im saving up for, it's going to feel so antique youll feel like you're in a time warp! my hubby can't wait and i can't either so seeing you're posts reminds me of the exciting future! you have some real treats there

The Dutch cleanser container is amazingly great condition. I love red and anything to do with fabric. And the sprinkle head on a Coke bottle was something in my past. I have an old Coke bottle somewhere now I should look for the top.

I love your laundry things...wish I had a sprinkler like yours. I remember my Mom sprinkling the clothes-and then we'd watch American Bandstand together while she ironed! :)

LOved your laundry things..my mothers sprinkler top was on an RC bottle. I remember well sprinkling clothes and rolling them to be ironed...and bor, do I ever remember ironing. :). P.S. My birthday is August and I want one of those rings..

I love your laundry things...that little sprinkler top...my mom had one she put on pepsi bottle (she drank Pepsi)...now remember I will be 64 in june so its an old one..I found one last yr and put it on old pepsi bottle and sold it on ebay now wish I had it...lol

I forgot all about that sprinkler for the bottle, my mother had one on the laundry room shelf. Now that you made me think of that, I think I need one.
